Depicted in a realistic Still-Life painting, the State of Kerala in southern India has the background in yellow for its bright sunshine and verdant greenery. A boat with many rowers depicts the Vallamkali boat races associated with the Onam festival. A set of wooden elephants and State flower ‘Golden shower’ are quintessential to the Kerala ethos. Female sparrows depict the matriarchal society. The table cloth is a dhurrie made of coir fibres. The purpose is to give the viewers of my paintings a sense of belonging. To rekindle memories associated with these places. To feel at home.
