Nina Mahtani's horses were inspired by Anna Sewell's Black Beauty, a timeless Victorian era children's literature that narrated the story of a horse in London suffering many hardships due to animal cruelty. "It's something that just made me want to get down to work and portray Black Beauty through my art" says Nina with reference to her work.
